Rediscovering Scent – Mad et Len

"...the smell and taste of things remain poised a long time, like souls, ready to remind us, waiting and hoping for their moment, amid the ruins of all the rest; and bear unfaltering, in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence, the vast structure of recollection."
MARCEL PROUST, "Du Côté De Chez Swann"

Established in 2007 by Sandra Fuzier and Alexandre Piffaut, Mad et Len’s scents are drawn by natural essential oils sourced from flowers, woods, and spices. Nestled on the French Riviera, in a region know as the "perfume capitol of the world," Grasse based fragrance design house Mad Et Len crafts a remarkable collection of candles and perfumes. Wholly artisan created, and only made of pure ingredients from concept to packaging. Composed of soy vegetable wax and a cotton wick, their candles are instinctively divine. With an ethos of rediscovery, Mad et Len embraces an elegant simplicity of a thing.

As Eugene Rabkin writes, "Mad et Len does not dilute essential oils, which accounts for the intensity of their scents. When you open the candle for the first time, the smell hits you hard, but just at the right pitch. The intensity subsides once you start burning the candle. On the flip side, unlike many mass-market (and, well, let’s say it, the so-called luxury) candles that are merely lightly perfumed, you do feel the scent in the air when the candle is burning."   Read Eugene Rabkin’s full post here at www.sz-mag.com
