Shiro Sakai is interested in the relationship between clothes and the body, a fascination that lends itself to his architectural approach to design. Sakai honed his technique as a pattern maker under Junya Watanabe at Commes de Garcons for nineteen years before launching his own line in 2015. A strong believer that construction is the essence of design, Sakai adopts the sophisticated techniques of vintage items. The result is a line of exquisitely fabricated garments that embody a Victorian sensibility while cultivating a distinctly modern feel.
