INSPIRATION STATEMENT
Can you believe it is already AUGUST??
I swear it feels like I was just rejoicing about the coming of Summer.
It has been, however, a summer filled with fun and celebration.
Last weekend, together with some friends from near and far, we had an opportunity to turn our Idaho property into a weekend summer camp, and celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We ate, drank, played lawn games, rode bikes, swam in the river, and sat around the fire recounting stories of our wilder times together. How incredible it is to have the same friends to share in the many transitions and reinventions we have had over these past 25 years since we said “I Do”.
It was so easy for all of us to slip right back to the age we all were when we first met.
We miss our Seattle community, and it sure was a blast to get so many of them out here to our Idaho country home. Nature can take the place of urban madness, and here, offers everyone an opportunity to sit back, slow down, and enjoy the quiet beauty that we wake up to everyday. It was fantastic to see everyone slip into the rhythm, and understand just what drew us to come to live here.
BOSS LADY ANNOUNCEMENT
I have previously professed that the relationship I develop with my long standing customers is an intimate one, because I dress my clients for some of the most important times of their lives. In this case, this will be the fourth book launch we have provided fashion support for.
Ali Frank, co author with Asha Youmans, has been a customer of Baby and Company over the past 15 plus years. I have dressed Ali for many occasions in her life: Birthdays, vacations, weddings, graduations, book launches, interviews, and whatever other occasion may warrant something new.
The insights we gain from dressing someone for the many events in their life lets us get to know our clients in a very special way. Wanting to present your best self through what you wear is important. Over the many years of dressing Ali, I came to understand so much about how she realized her voice in her literary career, and her consciousness to write stories that her daughters could use as blueprints to showcase the power of strength and determination to reach ones dreams and goals.
Hearing Ali talk about her latest projects over her many books let me understand and follow her evolution as an author. I could hear her literary voice evolve from our conversations in the dressing room to reflect the many changes cycling through our society. As I read Boss Lady, I could so relate and understand Toni, the lead character of the story. Through understanding Ali, I could so appreciate and feel grateful to all the Boss Ladies in my own life that helped lift me up to reach my life goals.
Thank you Ali and Asha for reminding us that we all have some Boss Lady inside us.
Boss Lady is now available in a bookstore near you!

About the Authors:
Ali Frank (who is white and Jewish) and Asha Youmans (who is Black and Baptist) bring their very different cultural backgrounds and perspectives together to write in one seamless, cohesive voice, united in their belief that humor and fiction can inspire empathy and learning, and that exposure to diverse experiences can only enrich one’s life. I urge you to place this book on the top of your stack for summer reading.
"Alli Frank and Asha Youmans have written yet another winning novel in Boss Lady―a whip-smart, heartwarming, and all-around delightful look at one woman’s quest for success on her own terms.” ―Tara Conklin, New York Times bestselling author of Community Board, The Last Romantics, and The House Girl
