A Note From Jill
"Summer is nature's argument that moderation was never meant to be taken seriously." — Oscar Wilde
Oy Vey, what a summer, Baby!
Now, everyone who knows me, or has seen me in motion, knows I run on an enormous reserve of energy. It should not surprise you then, to learn that my spirit animal is the hummingbird.
Every time one appears to drink from my garden, and I hear the vibration of those rapid-fire wings, I close my eyes and tap into that mighty little bird's energy: fierce, determined, busy, bossy, and always in motion.
Yep. I’ve got all of that. Which tells you something about the power-packed July that just left us; this busy birdie is a bit pooped.
Sun Valley has been alive with energy. Summer vacation, Baby. Full stop.
From our Trunk Show events to backyard BBQs with dear friends, we've filled our dance cards to the max. And still, we take great pleasure in stolen time on the river. Mr. Donnelly is out there most days with his beloved flyrod, casting like it’s church. Trout, who insists on a few hundred throws to be rescued from the current. And me, happiest settled in with a picnic, a good book, or a great playlist, finally letting my wings fold in and just stop. Each of us drawing what we need from the mighty Bigwood River. Each of us in our own happy place. Each of us together for these small sips of retreat from a busy calendar.
Not a complaint in the world — we choose this beautifully busy life, and don’t take for granted how festive and full it has become. So many new people getting to experience what it means to be Baby! We never stop loving the love. Grateful for every invitation to fun and frolic, and grateful for the friends who made the journey to spend time in our little corner of paradise. It still feels like summer camp, every single year.
There is real magic in that, and I never want to get used to it.
At last, the Buck Moon arrived on July 29th and graciously ushered July out to make room for a quieter August. Already, we're receiving our first drops of Fall merchandise. And while we're always excited for the new, I hate rushing summer's feeling out the door.. we wait so long for it to arrive.
But now the heat feels relentless, and the fires have settled into the Northwest. This is the part of summer we all dread. It has us wishing for a wash of rain and cooler temps to help the incredible firefighters working to tame the season’s beast.
OK, Mother Nature, it’s time to rein it in. This is the part of summer we will not miss.
Let's hope August delivers a cool down, and a few downpours. Please, make it so.

Summer Playlist
I love sitting at the river with friends, with Wayne, or just my boy Trout. So I put together a happy, chill, soulful playlist to keep my head calm and my outlook sunny. Great for a Sunday morning, deadheading the garden, or cooking something delicious in the kitchen.
Hope you enjoy the compilation, and maybe discover an artist you've never heard before. Tap your foot, move your hips, put a little sway in your head, and get that vibe, Baby — I feel it too.
