Queen City

Queen City

2201 1st Ave, Seattle, WA 98121

I found myself at Queen City on a late afternoon during heavy rainfall. The kind of rain that even us Seattleites seek shelter from. The place feels as much as a landmark as the nearby Pike Market. It has history and you can sense that as soon as you enter. I happily parked myself inside at a cozy candlelit table and stayed a while soaking in the general splendor and enjoying the Moscow Frappé recommended by my server. (I also recommend this drink as it was incredibly delicious.)

The large, dimly lit space is picture-perfect: color washed walls, exposed brick, handsome leather-upholstered booths, and wooden chairs. The walls are decorated with art ranging from gorgeous paintings to show photographs of Seattle's beloved band, Nirvana. My eyes spent the short while that I waited for my food to arrive traveling across the room from one spectacular adornment to the next. Once my Fig & Ricotta Bruschetta arrived at the table, the first thing that caught my eye was how beautifully it was plated. It was a meal that looked like it belonged in its setting. It looked so perfect that I didn't want to eat it right away, just look at it. But I gave in and it was an absolute pleasure.

Overall, the staff was accommodating and the space was warm and inviting. Queen City is a welcomed new addition to the neighborhood and I can't wait to discover more of what the menu has to offer. One thing is guaranteed: This will be an energetic, personal experience that’s truly one of a kind.
