From On The Boards:  Seattle’s newest “it” choreographer brings her first large-scale work to the OtB mainstage in a piece capturing the savvy, influences, and talent of the millennial generation. Wallich’s captivating brand of movement is a mix of hip hop, club kid moves, smooth athleticism, and post-post-modern dance tropes (think Cunningham and Bausch run through an Instagram filter), with an added dose of fashion, humor, and pop culture.

Wallich’s choreography is perfectly complemented with a score by local musician Johnny Goss (Cock & Swan), whose dreamy mix of analog synths and intricate electronics recently garnered his latest record a “Best of 2013” mention at the Huffington Post. The understated pastel and neon visuals from Northwest artist JD Banke and simple, yet bold lighting design by Amiya Brown add to the aesthetic, creating a mesmerizing and uber-contemporary mood.

Wallich is joined onstage by a trio of virtuosic performers: Lavinia Vago (RUBBERBANDance Group, co-artistic director of The YC), Matt Drews (Saint Genet, tEEth) and Waldean Nelson (Camille A. Brown & Dancers).
